Join us for a 1-day photography workshop at Mystic Seaport, where New England’s maritime history comes alive. This iconic museum offers a unique chance to capture America’s sailing heritage, from historic tall ships to charming 19th-century buildings.
Our day starts with the morning light on the Charles W. Morgan, the last wooden whaleship. Photograph this majestic ship and its intricate details against the calm Mystic River.
As we explore the recreated village, cobblestone streets and shipyard workshops provide endless photographic opportunities. Capture the interplay of light and shadow on the ships and the textures of the past.
Photograph skilled artisans demonstrating traditional crafts, blending portraiture with environmental photography. We’ll also explore The Amistad and Mystic Seaport’s collection of small boats.
Along the scenic riverside, the Mystic drawbridge and tranquil banks offer beautiful contrasts to the seaport life. In the afternoon, participate in a critique session for personalized feedback, enhancing your skills and visual storytelling.
By the end of the day, you’ll leave with striking images and a deeper appreciation for photography and New England’s maritime heritage.
